Ten years ago, apparently

The ‘now’ is not always a good place to be, the future is ambiguous, and the past is currently best remembered for things I would rather forget, in the main. This is an exception and it poppeded up on facebook this morning. It would have been the second time I ran the relay team, the first being in 2009 when I took a wrong turning and in order to retrieve the situation I knocked up 19 miles, instead of 13, giving the me the idea and encouraged by others to undertake a marathon. This I did the following year – the Kintyre Relay would have part of my training, and if I remember correctly, I had a 16 mile slot which went swimmingly well and boosted by confidence no end. My former best pal running chums are in the photo including F and J who ran the Dublin marathon with me.

A sunnier day today although at lunch time it is becoming less convincing. Managed to source some hand sanitiser on the internet which should be here in the next week, hopefully. This newly matters since the private gateway to Pollok Park is now kept locked on recommendation of G from SG who report a number of break ins in the vicinity although not in Haggs Gate, as yet.
A sad end to the day as the death of Robert Black was announced, I remember his arrival in Campbeltown as an 18 year old, at that age already a memorably gracious and exceptional human individual.
