Fire bin
The Minx has steadily transformed the deck and the garden through both some quite epic undertakings, such as her Potter's Bar, and through a plethora of little touches.
Falling somewhere between those two camps is the fire bin down the bottom of the garden: a square cut in the turf then bordered with stone, given a gravel bed, and dustbin on top.
It was intended for burning some garden waste and there has been a huge pile of branches on the base of the old summer house that has been building up for some time. We've just never found the time to use fire bin to get rid of it all.
The Minx decided to start tackling it - there is rather a lot - after work today, burning some planks to get a good bed of embers and then breaking up the branches and adding them to the fire.
She seemed very happy doing that so I sat on a chair nearby and we chatted as she kept the process going. In the end, I think she must have cleared about a third of what was stacked up.
