Sally Mair - Loving life

By Sallymair

Saturday night fever....

Well actually no fever but I couldn't think of a blip title and it is Saturday night!
Today started off quite dull and I feared that the sun wasn't going to make it through however by lunchtime it was lovely and sunny.
My replacement pond pump arrived so I spent an hour or so getting that all set up. As a result I've disturbed the bottom of the pond and the water has gone all murky. The fish have disappeared but hopefully by tomorrow it will have settled down again.
I am thoroughly enjoying all the bird song in the garden, there are a couple of particularly vocal dunnocks with a chirpy nestful somewhere in the forsythia, a vocal blackbird and the subject of today's blip, who flatly refused to show me its better side, is a baby coal tit. There were two of them fluttering around attended by their parents, they were lovely and fluffy and hadn't worked out yet that they should stay clear of humans!? So today's blip is a baby coal tit's tail, and most attractive it is too!
Other than that, Ali came over to deliver our shopping and came and sat (well over two metres apart from us) , in the garden for a chat which was lovely. She didn't even need to come through the house as the garage leads into the garden. I do miss my girls it's the first time I've seen her for more than a few seconds since this all began. We waved goodbye and blew a kiss as she left.
I washed the shopping and put it all away then washed all the door and cupboard handles again just to be sure.
Katy phoned later, she and Eilidh did a circular cycle ride from the Western General to Crewe Toll, up the cycle track to Sainsburys then down Craigleith to Inverleith Park. Pretty impressive for a six year old. Isobel though I think almost outdid her. She and her dad cycled from the same starting point to the far side of Inverleith Park and back, about a mile and a half round trip. She's only been on her pedal bike for a week, no stabilisers and aged three and a half. I'm most impressed. Her balance bike really got her started well, such good preparation so that she could ride her first real bike.
We had our usual mile and a half walk today. I could see it was going to be a good sunset but didn't get around to photographing it as phone calls took priority.

Keep well everybody and keep safe.
Ali brought me some more bleach today but I don't think I'll be injecting or drinking it.
