Epic Walk (Day 35)

Sunshine and a slightly less chilly breeze. Yay! It’s amazing how much it invigorates one. I have not slummocked around on the sofa at all today.

While sitting in the sun this morning, Hazel popped in after her run, and Gladys, another neighbour we’re just getting to know, popped in for a yak. Most pleasant.

I have been wanting to go down town and see the blossom in Princes Street Gardens. JR insists that I’m NOT allowed to take the bus, as it’s non-essential travel, but I haven’t walked to the city for years - not since I got my bus pass. I was worried that I’d get there, and be too stiff and sore to walk all the way back, so I could jump on a bus. That’s essential travel, surely.

However, we set off. And I made it! I was so chuffed. Puggled, stiff and sore, but well chuffed.

And what a treat it was. The Gardens are looking glorious, with the Ross Fountain glinting spectacularly in the sunshine. The well tended flower beds are bursting at the seams. The tulips were the stars of the show, with the blossom a very close second. Check out the extras.

We came home via the Grassmarket, past the (closed) Mary’s Milk Bar (best ice cream in town) and up the Miss Jean Brodie Steps (very slowly). Across the Meadows and back home, stopping for a gate-side natter with Christine and Rufus.

Our neighbours were barbecue-ing in the back garden, and they’d brought us our shopping. Excellent service.

What a great day. 10,039 steps!!
