Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

Sun worshipper!

I went to the gym after JR had her visit. The man that I’d advised to wipe down equipment was there - he's there every day, but spends about two minutes on each thing. And he wasn’t wiping it down, before or after. I reminded him - he seemed to have forgotten... but I saw him again in the other room, not wiping anything. What's wrong with him? Doesn’t he watch the news? Or indeed, read the notices around the gym.

Annemique and her boyfriend came to take Archie out, and they went a big walk up the hill and through the Hermitage. They came in for a cuppa when they finished.

We also had a chat with the neighbours. She's Taiwanese, and says she hears very different news about coronavirus from us in the UK - she doesn’t trust any news coming out of China!

Then who should walk by as we were farewelling Annemique in the front garden, but Archie's friend Robert. Archie got excited, so Robert came in for a chat and a pat of Archie, who was more interested in stealing Robert's hat and gloves.

We had intended walking across the Meadows to our Travel Agent to see what their thoughts on the matter is, but probably pointless - who knows what will be happening by July... but we will pop in during the week.

We have two Kiwi friends about to start a three month holiday in the UK in two weeks' time. But the NZ Government has just banned 'non-essential' travel overseas. Is the 'trip of a lifetime' non-essential?

This is Archie every sunny morning - standing in that little patch of sun. If the lounge door isn’t opened in time for him, he barks indignantly.
