Diary of an Edinburgher

More drain drama!

Lots done today! I do enjoy seeing how walls and pipes and all the hidden gubbins are so beautifully built in. Peter got the kitchen ceiling painted, though maybe just one coat, not sure. But it's looking good.

We had another drain drama. Our bathroom lads check and double check everything, and there are still strange gurglings that shouldn’t be there. It was concluded that a different bit of the pipe was blocked from last time, and we needed a man with a jet hose. We rang a different drain person (£109 per half hour last time!) who was able to come in 10 minutes! Brilliant. He was a very nice man, and made sure it was all flushed out, while commenting on the Victorian plumbing, which wasn’t built for dozens of en-suites, washing machines and dishwashers down each pipe. He even came into the new bathroom and flushed from the new shower drain, then checked in the kitchen as well. They were all so determined to make sure it was all working properly. Just as well it all happened while our chaps were here.

I had to pop to the gym to use their toilet this afternoon. They didn’t mind.

Michael and his friend came to take Archie out for a walk, while JR popped into town. Luckily, he wasn’t muddy today, so didn’t need a bath. It was sunny, but bloomin' cold!

Here's Archie looking at our cellar of ageing fine wine with years of dust our rack of supermarket specials with a few weeks of dust. And the open shelves are full of dust. They were covered up from day one, but dust got in anyway, and we gave up. He does look rather disapproving.

The marigolds are going to be given a massive work out when all this is finished!
