The Caiy Stane

Following my blip of 3 March I today passed the Caiy Stane - which has given its name to the district around it - Caiystane.

It is believed to mark the site of a battle between the Picts and the Romans and is thought to be around 3000 years old.

It would have been prominent atop the hill in open fields. Now it is surrounded by houses which were built in the mid-late 1930s.

In clearing out my aunt’s things we have come across a post card of the Stane - see extra - as the estate was being built.
