Tallest in the World....

Well I didn't know that.....this is Wellington Monument which is the tallest triangular obelisk in the world.  It is being repaired at the moment (obvious really!) at a vast cost but I personally feel it is a worthwhile expense.

It was started in 1817 but not completed until 1892.  It is hoped to open it to the public so that we may climb the 232 internal steps to admire the view from the top.

I had hoped to make a collage of some additional shots but couldn't get the programme to work! Operator error I suspect.
