Ghent

We are staying in Ghent for a few days. This morning we visited the Design Museum, where the loo is housed in this toilet roll shaped building, with a sign "de pot op" which means both "go to the loo" and "go to hell" in defiance of the City Council who refused to fund the museum's expansion.

Ghent is a fabulous City. This is the view from our hotel window. The River Leie runs through the centre. Numerous striking buildings - old and new - line its banks.  My favourite today was De Krook - a public library. The Abbey of Saint Peter is very grand too.
