The Igloo Hotel, Alta...

....where today it was -17 degrees....
.....and D’s birthday!

Such an amazing place which is built from scratch each November and is gone by April. It has bedrooms, a chapel for weddings, a bar and fantastic ice sculptures in each bedroom, this year following the theme of Norwegian folk law. Some onboard stayed here overnight on beds of ice covered with reindeer skins. They will have slept fully dressed and in a thermal sleeping bag. A fantastic experience.
My extra shows a warming tipple in an ice goblet! Everyone had one but for us it was a birthday toast to the birthday boy!
We’ve had a bit of an adventure on board due to very strong winds and waves and therefore a change of itinerary. My plan to post daily had to change as yesterday was our first day in a port.
