Crushed
3.4C with lots of grey cloud and plenty of light rain and sleet. Wet and dark. Strong winds reducing through the afternoon.
The rain showers seemed to become lighter around lunchtime so I got Maeve the Deerhound into her blue coat and me into waterproof gear and we set off for a bit of a walk. Straight down the road to the shore. Looking across the fields we could see one of the two trailers that were loaded with bales last week was empty, and the other loaded. Still lots of bales.
Looking towards the sea we could see that the tide was out a good bit and the sea was raging in across the band of rocks that runs along the shore. Less so than the last few days when the waves were very big and the breakers throwing huge white foamy torrents across the rocks to the beach. Half a mile back from the sea, our windows are covered in salt from the spray.
Down at Westhaven we stood for a while by the car park and looked out to sea. The white breakers were charging in through the channel in the rocks and depositing alginate foam on the edge of the beach. Reflecting the mood of the sky, the sea was a series of dark and dull grey tones.
We wandered along to see if there was anything of interest around the boats just along from the car park. I was just looking at the boats when Maeve went over to have a sniff at a battered, crushed and badly scratched yellow and blue plastic container/bucket lying in the dune grass near the back of the beach. I took a few close ups, one of which is today's blip. My assistant is back on form !
Coat off and paws dried Maeve is curled up on bed number three having a well learned snooze :-)
