Whatever Happened To Tracey?

My Dear Princess and Dear Fat Pete,

Caro told me that Tiger and Loulou had invited us out with them to the Tuatara brewery on Saturday night.

I must admit, my first reaction was, "Oh eff nooooooo..."

Don't get me wrong. I love Tiger and Loulou, but I am SOOOO tired this week. For obvious reasons.

The reason for the evening out was that the Jordan Luck Band were playing. And if you haven't heard of Jordan Luck, then he was the front man of The Exponents. And if you haven't heard of The Exponents then you've clearly never been drinking with Kiwis.

Yesterday, I emailed Lemon to ask if she was interested. To which she replied, "You know that they're a white band, right?"

To which I replied, "RACISM!!"

So, despite my tiredness I went along and I had a great night. I knew I would. We had a brilliant laugh all evening and the music choices were clearly skewed toward an old bastard clientele. By which I mean, lots of Toto, Eagles, Earth Wind & Fire, UB40 and Stevie Wonder.

Then "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" came on. And Loulou was off! Pat Benatar is her spirit animal, she announced.

Jordan Luck and his band were also top value. I knew about one-third of their songs, on account of they did lots of covers too, including "Brand New Cadillac" by The Clash. Of course, Caro knew all of their own hits, she was up and dancing and singing along all night.

(I think she might have enjoyed it even more than Queen. Don't tell Feefs).

So it was a good evening. And I have a really good feeling about our new location. I was explaining to the others that I really feel like I'm in New Zealand now.

Nothing against Wellington, but Paraparaumu has this lovely, friendly, small-town NZ vibe that is what I associated most with this country (having previously always stayed in Caro's home town of Mount Maunganui).

Caro also says that it feels like the "old Mount" to her - before it became overdeveloped.

So. In short. I'm heartily glad I went out last night. I really am. But I am totally effed this morning. It's not a hangover. (No, really). Just WRECKED.

I am going to stick my @rse to the couch all day. Not moving. Nope nope nope nope nope.

Dammit. Now I need to pee.

S.
