A short break

Our friends from England had never been to Udon Thani so we offered to take them there.   It is a long drive of around 10 hours, plus stops.  So we left home at 7am and arrived at our hotel in the early evening.  The following day we did a whistle stop tour of the beautiful lakes and the Chinese Temple and museum.  The museum had an exhibition featuring the Chinese New Year Celebrations and of course there were dragons, see my extra.  We later walked around town and through a lovely pedestrian only area.

We had a wonderful time.  The only thing to spoil things was the smoke.  We actually passed burning fields.  The land is so dry and it just seems crazy that burning is still happening.   Some of the fires were very close to gum tree plantations, which are also very dry.  It was a sad sight.
