Up Helly Aa 2020
A fine morning, and then rain started in the afternoon. Cleared this evening, flat calm too.
Another day working on the museum desk. We've had over 900 folk in the door, mostly visitors, school bairns and Vikings from Up Helly Aa. Working in the pub tonight too.
Picked up friend Julie, and we headed into town to see the Up Helly Aa procession, since it was a perfect night for it. The streets were crammed with folk watching, and up to 1000 men with torches burning. Biggest disappointment was no fireworks this year! Here's squads passing the galley, as they parade through the streets. Taken at the Hillhead, Lerwick.
