Chicken Wrangler

The brown chickens (Warrens) have been bullying the black chickens (Marans). While we were working next to their enclosure we got to see the extent of it and decided to take action. Off they were to go (to a friend who was looking to expand her flock from one Warren). All the same type should not be a problem. Catching them, on the other hand, was. After running around the enclosure for ages being made to look a complete fool by three feathered demons, I resorted to extreme measures. The Fish Landing Net. It worked and, after Mrs SoL had fixed boxes that they could not get out of, they were handed over. Later pics showed they were happy in their new home. New Marans will be bought at the big market in Saintes next week. Will we cope with the drop in egg production in the meantime?  We’ll see.
