She's Leaving Home

My Dear Princess and Dear Fellows,

Today Caro decided to break it to Miranda that we have bought a house and will be moving out.

As a background to this, we legally have to give Miranda one month's notice. My original plan was tell her on February 1st and then move out sometime in that month.

But Caro, polite as she is, decided to at least give her a heads-up.

"Well it's a VERY hard time of year to rent," said Miranda. Because obviously we have timed this to annoy her personally.

Caro asked if we could stay through the whole of February and Miranda said NO, the terms of our lease were very clear, we were to be out by February 10th. After a bit of to-and-fro she agreed to the 17th.

Which is not THAT big of a deal, I suppose. But we have been very tolerant tenants - the road outside has been torn up THREE times, the Samoan High Commission has been demolished out of our back window and we've had to put up with Effy McEffwit and The Effers living down below for six months because SOMEONE didn't screen her tenants thoroughly enough.

I just thought a little bit more slack MIGHT HAVE BEEN GIVEN.

Not that I'm bitter.

However, it has firmed up our plans somewhat. We will probably be moving out the weekend of 7th February. I say probably because we haven't arranged anything yet. But Caro is all over it.

And in the plus column, we were supposed to be going to a wedding on 7th February and now obviously I cannot go. Damn. Curses. Tch.
