Extra Cheese
My Dear Princess and Dear Fellows,
Today I was listening to "Sounds of the 60's". I like these songs from my parents' era. Back in the day they really didn't give a crap and so the songs are as cheesy as you like.
Probably the high-point in my cheese-fest was The Legend of Xanadu by Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Titch.
If you have never heard of it, this is a song with a strong South American feel, including mariachi brass and whiplash effects.
If you watch the video, you will notice Dave Dee lashing his whip in time to the music and that everyone is wearing Gaucho hats like they are about to ride across the pampas.
But of course the highlight is the dramatic spoken bit in the middle. I bloody love a dramatic monologue in the middle of a song. Like that bit in "The Look of Love" by ABC or "Leader of the Pack" by The Shangri-Las.
And yes, in case you were wondering, I am sitting here typing this while wearing a Gaucho hat.
