New Snow on Old Man
Such a lot of rain overnight but this morning seemed to be reasonable weather so I took a walk up Gummer's How (1054ft), an excellent and easily reached view point. Water was streaming across the path from the waterlogged ground but the path was clear if a little slippery in places. It soon became clear that the overnight rain had fallen as snow at higher levels and the higher fells all had a fresh white cap. Here we can see from the left: Brown Pike, Buck Pike, Dow Crag, Coniston Old Man, Brim Fell, [Swirl How, Scafell Pike and Broad Crag are in the cloud] and Wetherlam.
