Actually it’s a radish, which D put on his dinner specially for photographic effect.

People are always asking me (because I’m vegan and gluten free) “ what on earth do you eat?”. Well this was a butternut squash, spinach and sausage casserole (the one for which a certain big supermarket did an advert on TV and got grief from the NFU) and I also made some roast potatoes to go with it as they are D’s favourite. He always has a helping of Kapusta (a kind of sauerkraut from the Polish shop) and for some reason added some olives on the side as well. We had the last of the mince pies (from Iceland) with Alpro custard afterwards..
