Through the lounge window

LongLegs is sitting in the same position as he has been most days since coming out of hospital. For weeks, he’s occupied that sofa, firstly surrounded by trays of tablets and dressings and now with books, chargers and food.

He’s recovered well. He still has 4 questionable wounds but they are healing and no one is worried. And he’s left the nest today. He’s gone on a 9.38 Conference for Ministry Trainees. It’ll be a gentle introduction to his working world, we hope, and he goes straight on to his home in south London afterwards for a phased return to work.

It feels mighty significant to me. He may be 22 and a grown man, but it’s been a weird old 7 weeks. He needs to go but I’m going to miss him and DougsJB, who also left today, to join a Christians in Sport Conference.

HatBox left on Tuesday and our numbers are thinning down (and so is the washing, the food quantities, and the number of shoes and coats piled up).

It’s quieter too ...
