Poor as a Church ?
The SW corner of Truro Cathedral, home to various two legged vagrants on occasion and by the look of things a four legged variety. The door is about 4'6" tall.
The building was commenced in the 1880s, the three spires have recently been extensively reconstructed, the fabric of the building needs major restoration. The diocese is going to need major funding to ensure the external walls are rebuilt by craftsmen in line with the original construction.
Question? Is this wise? Spend millions to recreate a building that was built of sandstone and has, over recent decades, eroded faster than in previous centuries due mainly to emissions from various machinery. Would it be better to build a smaller, built for purpose cathedral in modern materials and plan on renewing sections as materials fade?
Answers on a tenner to the usual.
In other news.
Took Mrs Booty to the opticians, managed to drop my camera, tears, managed to fall over a display case, rage. Then overheard a conversation, medical in confidence, wherein a lady's mother and aunt have just gone blind and according to the consultant she will, in due course follow them.
Puts things in perspective.
