My Dear Princess and Dear Fellows,

We all had a disturbed night last night. There was a violent thunderstorm that started at about 6pm yesterday and carried on right through to 6am this morning.

As usual, I slept like a bastard all the way through it while the cats fretted and Caro tried to calm them down. Really, I am just useless.

And then at 4.30am.

CRAAAAAACCCCKKKK!!!

A huge FLASH of lightning followed almost immediately by a thundercrack so loud it rocked the house. It must have been directly overhead. 

I woke up.

The torrential rain has only just stopped. We were supposed to be going out today to look at houses but then thought better of it. Although in many ways, today has helped us with our house hunting anyway. We have been able to scratch a number of Wellington suburbs off our list due to flooding. 

Instead we have spent the day doing what we love to do on dark, overcast, atmospheric days. Murder mysteries. Caro fell asleep during "Dial M For Murder" so I put on old episodes of "McCloud" and "McMillan and Wife" instead. 

And now I can see blue skies again for the first time in 24 hours.
