Not quite brass monkey weather, but close.

Got the tandem out for a circuitous ride to Finchingfield and coffee.

Arrived at the cafe and could barely get to the door for bikes, the Bishop's Stortford CC had decided it was a good stop on their Sunday morning run.

I guess they did a few more miles than us.

Steel is reference to the frame material, most of the club riders had carbon and aluminium and even titanium - thought the winter training bike was the old race frame with winter wheels and obsolete components - not any more.
