Diary of an Edinburgher

Spot the dog!

Still coughing. This is getting boring now.

Jordan took Archie out for a damp walk. So good of him, but he says he loves stretching his legs and having time on his own for a wee while.

We spent most of today, and several hours yesterday trying to renew our parking permit online. I'm sure in years past, I’ve just gone down to the Royal Mile Office, filled in a form, paid, and got a new one. But now it's suddenly all, completely, online. The phone line on the web page is not usable, it's closed completely (why put it on the web page?) Emails receive an automated answer saying they close at 1pm. I rang another council number, about roads (vaguely connected) and eventually got through to someone who gave me two numbers to try, both CLOSED. But we couldn’t even get in, it kept not recognising the address. Pretzel and her mum popped in, and had a wee go, having just done it recently, with problems, but spoke to a person (before 1pm). But no luck.

I then had another go, and bingo! Got there. But I do wonder about folk who can't do it all online because a) they don’t have access, or b) the technical skills to do so.

We'll the watch the final episode of 'The Affair' tonight. Jings it's been a loooong series. I hate to think of the hours of our life we've wasted. I could have been doing something constructive, like knitting.
