Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

Wee visitor

This 'laryngitis' has turned into something worse. A hacking cough and frequent monumental sneezes, which don’t make for a good night's sleep... I was watching TV from the sofa till about 5am. Strange things on in the wee sma' hours when they think nobody's watching.

However, I cheered up by 8am, when wee Pretzel arrived to spend the day with us. Her mum has a full time job this term, and so we'll look after her a few days a week. We don’t like to think of her on her own all day. She's no bother, though Archie may disagree (the faces tell the story...) She's straight on to his seat on the sofa. She doesn’t stand any nonsense from him, ignores his rough play, and just makes herself at home. They had a tug of war, though Pretzel is scared of squeaky toys. All the rugs in the house were haywire. Fun!

In the afternoon JR took them up the hill while I watched the tennis, but snoozed, mostly.

Pretzel is coming again tomorrow, so I hope I’ll be able to get out with her. This is dragging on!
