Holiday Fun

We have escaped to the Lake District for what we intend to be a very quiet week. A bit of walking, reading, knitting for me if only I'd  remembered to bring it -(((  ....

We had an little explore of the surroundings - overlooking Morecambe Bay.  This is the lawn at the front of the house, and though it doesn't look very interesting, I was amused to see it,  It's a Ha-ha!  - a ditch hidden from above.  The idea being that you had a herd of ornamental cattle grazing in the field beyond, but they couldn't stray on to your perfect sward because there was a ditch and then a retaining wall to stop them. I've never seen one before. So it's my Silly Saturday entry, ha ha.
