Arisaig and Mallaig
A bit of a windy night but slept well all things considered. Had a little walk along the beach whilst our friends took their kayaks out on the water before heading to Mallaig via Morar - the silver sands are stunning.
The Jacobite steam train passed us heading back to Fort William and hope I managed to get a better shot than the one I took on Thursday.
Early dinner before heading to the Ashley hall for the first night of Feis-Na-Mara. Only 250 tickets so a nice intimate festival. Himmerland were up first - a 5 piece band made up of three Danes, a Swede and a percussionist from Ghana - fabulous set and really nice guys (they stayed around for the other acts and were happy to chat). Next up was the 3 piece boys from Assynt who had added a drummer and bass player for the night - their piper David Sneddon is excellent on both pipes and whistle.
Then it was time for a short break before the second half - the Ciaran Ryan ceilidh band followed by Croft No 5. We left around 12.30 as we didn’t think we’d last till the 2am finish time. Home for tea and toast and off to bed.
The extra is a wee collage of the 4 bands.
Back blipped Saturday 5th.
