Over the past few days of cold-induced confinement, I have read three really enjoyable novels: Ian Rankin's "Standing in Another Man's Grave;" Julian Maclaren-Ross "Of Love and Hunger;" and "Gone Girl" by Gillian Flynn.

Who needs better dreams?
