A perfect autumn day
It was a stunning start to the day with dew jewelled cobwebs in the grass and the mist in the distance, and just got brighter as the morning passed into afternoon.
Into Kirkwall in the morning for a very short haircut and a hip x-ray. My left leg is still a pain, literally, and the physio thinks it could do with more examination. Then, with Lottie, to Cafe Lolz to meet with blipper Houseonahill and her husband for coffee and cakes! Great to see them again and hear about their pine martin and what they had been doing while in Orkney. Lottie was so well behaved that another customer didn't realise she was a real dog!
Home for an afternoon in the sunshine of the back garden. Tee shirt and bare legs weather! So strange after the scarf and gloves weather of the week before. Lottie and I went round the cliffs and down onto the beach to see what the gulls were excited about. It turned out to be a long dead whale. Huge and stinking. After taking some photos I bid a hasty retreat before Lottie could get too interested in it!
A ceilidh in the evening in the Cromarty Hall in the evening, with three blippers in attendance! Great fun - and it would have been even better if my leg hadn't been holding me back!
Extra is an evening shot of the Hoy Hills, specially for IainatCreel
