Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

He's home!

We heard from Grace, Archie's sitter, first thing in the morning. He'd had a good night, and joined her on her bed about 5am. She didn’t mind. They were out for a walk round the Links on a lovely sunny morning. She didn’t let him off the lead yesterday, but tried today, and immediately texted - 'He came back to me!' Treats work wonders, but I suppose with a new dog it's a bit nerve-wracking to let him off the lead, although we'd assured her he'd be fine.

So this sitter worked out fine. And very handy too. We'll use her again. There are four nice students in a huge big flat, with - unusually - a lounge used as a lounge (they're usually used as bedrooms).

We took him a walk down to the Meadows and he had a good run around off the lead.

In the afternoon I gave him a haircut. JR went to complete her eye test. And I made the tea (dinner/supper). I'm a big fan of Jamie Oliver, and often exclaim, after a particularly easy and tasty looking demonstration, 'I'm going to make that!' But it never eventuates. But this time it did. I made his scruffy aubergine lasagne. Didn’t quite turn out like his, but it was nice enough. I just took notes from the tv. But I have since looked it up, and see where I went wrong...

JR was happy to come home from her eye test to find the tea made. Well, not quite made - I couldn’t put the oven on... To be fair, it's quite a new oven. I know now.
