London Day 8
We took a bus ride to Oxford Street this morning with the plan to see the Hendrix and Handel properties. After a drink in Pret near Hanover Square we wandered into Mayfair via Brook Street and found the blue plagued buildings side by side. Handel lived in the complete building, Hendrix in a flat. It is open to the public, though we didn't have time to go round.
We'd arranged to meet Emma, and Tom who'd taken the train down from Stratford on a day trip, at the entrance to the London Zoo in Regents Park. So we took the bus from Oxford Circus and waited on the bridge over the Regent Canal where the entrance to the zoo is.
When they arrived we went straight for lunch before having a look around. It must fifty odd years since I've been to London Zoo, we had a good time exploring the various pens and areas. We started off at the penguin pool, main picture, and ended up with the meerkats, see extra.
After returning home this evening we had a walk into Hyde Park to have a look at the fountains, which surprisingly are not lit up though still working. We could hear the distant music from the Proms in the Park celebrating the Last Night of the Proms. Second extra is a night shot, long exposure, hand-held picture of a heron in the water we spotted.
