Another Hummer
Dear Diary,
Yesterday it was a Hummingbird and today it is a Hummingbird Moth! They prefer the Phlox over the Trumpet vine. My Phlox is waning now but this is a late blooming variety and provides a nice contrast for this little hummer.
Henry insists that I show you his new friend, Pippa. (extra) She is from an ancient line of Cumbrian mice. (Henry, as you learned in May is of Irish ancestry) In fact, her great-great-ever so great grandparents lived on Beatrix Potter's farm in the Lake District and were the models for the story The Two Bad Mice. Here she is posing with a Herdwick sheep ( you can see another photo of Pippa's flock in an extra), the breed that Potter raised at Hill Top Farm. Pippa is wearing her very best party frock. Henry is clearly smitten with the little lass. (I think it is the eyelashes!) Anyway, love is in the air here at Stone Mountain Farm!
