Diary of an Edinburgher

Suits you, Archie

Today we wandered along to a new (to us) dog friendly pub for lunch. It was just about at the limit of my walking abilities (well past Victor Hugo's) but we set off. As I passed the bus stop, a bus arrived... I am genetically programmed to jump on buses that arrive at the stop at the same time as me. So I did. JR and Archie walked the whole way, via the Meadows. Rufus and his mum also walked.

And so I arrived at the appointed pub about half an hour too early. But I had a coffee and free wifi, so I was happy. In fact, I had a flat white with oat milk, which I haven’t tried before, and it was excellent.

A very nice lunch (and bottle of wine) was enjoyed. In fact, we’re going there again on Monday evening for a much anticipated 'lobster evening'. Very friendly staff - they brought water and treats for the dogs.

Though the weather app assured us it would rain in the afternoon, it didn’t, so we walked home. I was fairly stuffed. But we watched the next episode of 'Succession'. It's pretty awful - a truly horrible family, and constant terrible swearing, but it's compulsive viewing, once you get into it.

Here's Archie with his old face beard cloth. It's used to dry his beard after he's had a drink, then he's allowed to play with it - he loves charging around with it, as long as he's chased.

Horrible new word of the day: prorogued.
