The ‘big and the small’!

(The above replacement title is a quote from rainie.)
Done it - at last!
We heard today that they have finally abandoned the Bristol Balloon Fiesta but no worries for us because we went to the Bristol Aerospace Museum just up the road in Filton instead.
Very wild and wet at times this morning so it was good to be indoors.
An interesting start to the tour showing the development of the Bristol/Filton plant from the very early days as The Bristol Tramways and Carriage company to early aircraft following In the footsteps of the Wright brothers, through both world wars to the early days of luxury travel in the 1950’s and beyond including the Harrier Jump Jet, helicopters and rockets and space all in one of the original early 20th century hangers.

After a coffee we braved the elements to cross to the special hangar that houses Concorde. This is what I really wanted to see. I’ve always found it quite magical and whenever it flew to or from Leeds/Bradford airport we would run out side to watch it. Now was the chance to get up close and even take a look inside. It was brilliantly displayed and I loved every minute of it. Also it is celebrating 50 years this year.

The afternoon remained blustery but was again warm and sunny. Grace wanted to go to some vintage shops at the other side of the city so we took advantage of the baby sitters again whilst Eda napped, and popped out.
We came back with a vintage Fisher Price aeroplane for her. Classic!
