Kirkwall, The Orkney Isles

Orkney is the nearer group of islands to the Scottish Mainland and Kirkwall is situated on Mainland, or the biggest island of the group.

All of the Islanders are delightfully friendly and helpful to visitors which made our first excursion very enjoyable.

The main Blipfoto is of a Lagonda Sportscar which was the wedding car for a ceremony being held in St Magnus Cathedral which features in an extra photo.

The cathedral is well worth visiting.

Nearby is the Earl’s Palace which, although without Roof and Windows is a good place to visit.

Historic Environment Scotland do know how to present a historic property.

Why the Lagonda?

As some of you know I do some volunteer work for NTS at Hill of Tarvit Mansionhouse. Elizabeth Sharp, who gifted the property to the NTS drove a similar Lagonda.
