The secret drinker

The first question the vet asks when we take our elderly cat to the vet is: how much does he drink?  I have no idea. He never touches water in the house.
 
So we rigged up the night camera and discovered that he does drink – from a flowerpot in the early hours of the morning.
 
But how much are cats supposed to drink? I have no idea.
