Rain at Last

The rain has arrived. The temperature today is lass than half that of yesterday. It is wonderful! Driving back from the shops I saw that the local farmers have mostly managed to bale the hay ahead of the rain. Job done. The grapes on the vines will be soaking up the liquid and it is not too early for them so that they don’t split - we hope. The sweetcorn is getting a good soaking as well, so no need for the giant watering cannons. Well, actually, this is when they ARE used by the locals. We look and say ‘why are they watering in the rain?’, but it is because the ground is softer and can absorb even more water and it goes deeper. Counterintuitive, but there we are.
