Pictorial meadow

What did we do on the hottest July day ever? Went for a walk this morning to the garden centre. Very little would stop us from our monthly free coffee. It was warm but bearable and plenty of shade.

On the way home via Tesco’s we walked past these pictorial meadow flowers, the seeds of which had been sown from a grant from the Borough Council’s Go Green, Go Wild initiative which is open to local groups to bid for funds to improve the environment. Some may not be impressed by an pictorial meadow as it’s not the same as a traditional hay meadow. I think it has its place, better than nothing and it’s not where a traditional meadow would be found.

And for good measure we painted a fence, garden door and fence and replaces all the fittings and external electric cables that I’d removed to help the painting. I then trial fitted a new fence panel which looks quite good. For most of the time we were in the shade, quite a bit cooler than in the full sun which registered 50.2c.

As the afternoon wore on clouds built from the south. The Rain Alarm app showed a stream of heavy rain pulsing north towards us. Not to be! The main band of storms and rain passed to the east of us towards Ashford and the Kent Coast. Lightening and thunder and little spats of rain were all we got.
