On the way down from Crinkle Crags

A very, very fine day. A traverse of Crinkle Crags, one of the Lakeland Fells I’ve long wanted to ascend.

An 8 mile “walk” with almost 3000 feet of altitude gained and 1300 calories burned, most of which were replaced at the Old Dungeon Ghyll afterwards. Tremendous views all around, surprisingly cool on the summit but otherwise almost perfect conditions.

I expected the Langdale Valley to be busy so we set off early having breakfast at the ODG. Need not have worried as there was plenty of space in the National Trust car park. Despite being the first week of the school holidays Lakeland is much quieter than we thought it would be. Maybe next week will be busier?

Today’s blip is on the way down to the Three Tarns (or two tarns and boggy bit in dry weather) with Bow Fell looming large and Scafell away to the left.

The Bad Step was avoided by taking the terrace away to the left. I know this might be poor form but I was more interested in completing the route as this is the first serious Hill walk since my illness in May and June. I was just pleased to successfully complete the route.
