A Grand Day out
The weather forecast was for a dry, hot day, a rarity for us this year so we decided to make the most of it so left the house at just gone 7am and off to Elgin first.
Feeling hungry we stopped at Tesco’s to pick up a few things including some cotton trousers reduced in the sale. Did not really fancy breakfast from there so ended up having a Costa wrap and an iced peached tea. There was a lovely farmshop next door so had a look round there ,lots of lovely things and I treated myself to a scarf with hares, wrens and foxes etc on it .
Off to Cooper Pond for an Otter Hunt, did not see him so had a walk round the outside of Elgin Cathedral and the Biblical garden which was beautiful.A huge black cloud was above us so we were abit worried that the lovely day forecast might have been wrong.
On to Spynie Loch where the sun shone brightly bringing out plenty of butterflies and dragonflies.
Spotted a water Rail, the usual garden birds, a Jay and eventually the squirrel.I would have liked him in a tree really but he was too quick when away from the feeder.
Got chatting to a regular at the hide and he showed us some wonderful photos he had taken.
We then went for a walk at Lossiemouth. It was heaving near the bridge with lots of people walking across the bridge. It May have to be closed soon but there is a Campaign to save it.
We walked along the estuary which was incredibly hot but luckily a breeze picked up as the tide came in. An Osprey flew up in the distance.
Was going to have a fish supper but the chippy did not open until 5 so decided to go to Hopeman instead.Got our fish supper and sat in the car to eat it just incase a gull was hungry !
Went for a walk down to the harbour.Managed to get a pottery poppy made by an old gent who served in the war and made them for the commemorations last year.
Seeing as Findhorn was on the way home we went for a wander there too.Finished with an Icecream that was delicious and cooled us down for a while .
Findhorn has such a great atmosphere, it certainly has a buzz about it with lots of people enjoying the sunshine.
A clear drive home and it was still very hot !
