Ciao Bella
Morning departure for drive to next stop at Lugano. A quick walk into San Gimi before breakfast and setting off. The road north is a tunnel sandwich – loads of tunnels at first travelling north through Tuscany- dropping down to the plains around Milan and then more tunnels up through the Alps to Lake Lugano. By the way, going past Modena there’s a Ferrari museum. That’s a must do on another visit. Plus, there seems to be a Alfa Romeo museum somewhere around Milan.
Arrived at Morcote for three days. Switzerland’s prettiest village in 2016. We are staying at Hotel Swank. Stunning view, chandeliers, shaky paintings everywhere, swags and tassles. The car park is bung full of Porsches, Aston Martin, Bentley Continental, a Ferrari. Hope they don’t bounce us because our motor’s face doesn’t fit.
Didn’t bother with the 40quid a course restaurant and instead had a delightful and delicious dinner at a little place down on the edge of the lake with Aretha and Al Green playing in the background. When I told the waiter that I liked the music he obligingly turned it up. As the twilight settled we watched the colours shimmering on the water with James Taylor singing to us. Memorable.
