Garden Party

I'm not what anyone would describe as a "royalist", but when I was invited to the Garden Party at Holyrood this year it seemed rude not to at least show up.   Didn't actually catch sight of the Queen at all, but I did polish off several of her cakes - including the one with the crown on it.  There were many interesting sights, from the ruins of the old Holyrood Abbey next to the Palace and an amazing array of footwear, to the Royal Company of Archers who are the Queen's ceremonial bodyguard in Scotland.  I didn't spot any arrows, but they could probably give you a nasty poke with those longbows or a right good tickling with their feathered caps.....
