St Andrew's cathedral

Took a little road trip to St Andrews today.  Pottered around on the beach for a while then dodged the many, many, many people carrying golf clubs and pulling golf bags and shopping in golf shops and drinking outside the golf taverns, playing golf on the links and watching other people play golf...... while I enjoyed the peace and beauty of the ruined cathedral, built in 1158 and destroyed during the 16th Century Scottish Reformation.  At 350 feet long, it is the biggest church ever built in Scotland.   I would love to have seen the light streaming through the stained glass windows - it must have been a magnificent and awe inspiring sight from within.
