from Hungary
This morning in church we were honoured to have four visitors from Hungary. Ti'mea and Zsofia are students who have won an annual competition - the prize is a trip to Scotland to visit the sites associated with Jane Haining. Jane was born in Dunscore and every year we host two students and a teacher (this year it is Rita, on the left in the photo).
Ti'mea and Zsofia both gave excellent presentations about their life in Hungary. They are 14 and 15 years old and come from different cities, so had never met until now. Both are very musical - Zsofia is a talented pianist and Ti'mea sings in a choir. They talked about their schools, church, pets, friends and hobbies and this evening they will be guests at a barbecue where they can meet lots of local people.
The fourth visitor was Margit, a teacher and author who I have known for many years. She loves this area and has come to Scotland for the summer to meet people and to spend some time writing. It was windy and cold in Dunscore today but Margit was dressed for the Scottish weather!
