Cooling Off
The temperature soared to 31 degrees here at the coast, so I'm very glad that we weren't inland where I'm sure it was hotter. Alan spent the morning doing the garden while it was still relatively cool, and we put the garden parasol up and got all the cushions out for the furniture, and after lunch in the garden, we took Xena for a walk along the undercliff.
Fortunately there was a nice breeze at the beach, so it didn't feel too uncomfortable. Lots of people were in the sea, and we spotted this lady who'd put her chair in the rock pools - what a great way to cool off! We walked to Ovingdean where we sat and had a drink at the cafe, before heading back. Xena decided that when we got home, she'd go for a swim, so when we got to Rottingdean, we took her to the beach shop to get some beach shoes that she could swim in - as there's so many pebbles and rocks here, you really need them.
When she was ready, I took her back down to the beach in the car and then I carried on to the supermarket to pick up a few bits that I'd forgotten the other day. As luck would have it, on my way back, Xena was crossing the road on her way back, so I peeped my horn and she saw me so jumped in the car and I drove her home - we couldn't have planned that better if we'd tried!
The rest of the evening was spent in the garden, where we cooked rump steaks on the BBQ and had sweet potato wedges with veg and pepper sauce. It was nice to finally be able to sit outside to eat, and as we were quite late eating, it had cooled down somewhat. We finished the night off in the Palace with a bottle of wine - very enjoyable!
I'm a very bad blip friend at the moment, I'm so behind on all of your journals, so I do apologise for my lack of comments, but June has been such a busy month with visitors and holidays and now having a guest in the house, I'm just not getting much time to sit on my computer. So thank you to those of you that are still sticking with me x
