A day of endurance events starting in Ambleside.

At 7 o'clock this morning I discovered Waterhead car park being used as the base for a triathlon. I think the swim had finished and the competitors had started the cycling (over 6 Lakeland passes). It was to finish with a 26 mile run from Ambleside, along Langdale, up Scafell Pike and back. I was exhausted just thinking about it!

Later I saw competitors heading to Rothay Park. This was the start and finish for a Lakeland Trails event with runs from 14k to 100k. I decided to walk to the park in the afternoon and see if I could get some shots.

The main photo is a toddler helping his Dad finish the race and the first extra shows other junior runners crossing the bridge just before the park. The second extra is one of the competitors after the event. Not the sort of photo I usually take!
