Wherever you go there’ll be love
Ten years ago I started with this company ...
I had a two and a half hour telephone interview and then I had a three and a half hour face to face interview during which time we laughed as much as we discussed my suitability for the position
My boss had me marked as a lunatic from day one, but that was okay. I started five weeks later.
When I started I was business administrator - there were 8 of us operating out of a town house in Ayr and three working in USA.
Now, ten years on, there are 60 of us in the UK, 12 in the USA, 5 in the Middle East, and 12 in India. I’m still a lunatic, I still sing, badly, at the top of my voice, I still high five and cheer when we reconcile..but now I’m the Financial Controller of the Group and I still can’t quite get to grips with that.
That’s a sensible job - with responsibility - and it still makes me excited to go into work and prove to them that I am worthy of their confidence in me.
I love my job, and I love the people there - don’t get me wrong; there are bad days and we shout and scream and stomp but those days are in the minority and the majority of days are busy, challenging and fulfilling.
My husband has given up expecting me home before 6..... regardless of how early I start.
Today they had a surprise for me - which I totally ruined! I overheard conversations, I noted weird looks between people I spotted wrapping paper and then I walked in on my surprise whilst everyone was busy getting organised for me - so I shouted ‘surprise’
And then i still managed to decline cake! A gal’s gotta keep on her diet dontcha know!
