Day 8 - Saint Petersburg (1)

The day finally arrived for the whole reason for the cruise - Saint Petersburg, a city I’ve wanted to visit for years :-)

We had a guided tour of the beautiful Peterhof Palace which was originally built in 1715 but tragically more or less destroyed in WWII and rebuilt again in the 1960’s, with most of the original furniture & paintings which had been buried in the grounds :)

I have never seen so much gold leaf in my life - it was totally amazing!!

We were there @ 11am when the Grand Cascade fountain was switched on which was beautiful cascading down the terraced steps :-D

What a fantastic day!
