Day 9 - Saint Petersburg (2)
Our second day in this wonderful city - more culture & gold leaf!!
We visited the Hermitage Museum in the morning which is formed of many buildings including the former Winter Palace where we saw spectacular state rooms :)
The Hermitage also houses over 3,000,000 pieces of artwork - our favourite was Davinci’s ‘Madonna & Child’
Then we had 3 hours on the Nevskiy Prospekt to explore such delights as St Isaac’s Cathedral (gold dome) and Church of the Savior on the Spilled Blood (Russian ceramic tiles) by ourselves :-D
I’m wondering when Mr W is going to bring me back to see everything again when all the renovations are complete ;-)
