Diary of an Edinburgher

New eateries!

I was off out early today across the other side of town - Leith. It seems to take ages on the bus, but I do enjoy the drive through town. For today I was giving an osteopath a go on my legs, and a friend has recommended this chap.

I had a time for a quick coffee in the Hideout. Lovely smells, as everyone was tucking in to delicious looking (and smelling) breakfasts.

David, the osteopath, believes he can help me. He quietly squeezed and pulled my legs for half an hour. Not massage, as I had expected, just squeezing. Then he squeezed my head. He had very warm hands. It was not unpleasant. Whether it did me any good - and I don’t expect miracles - time will tell. I made another booking for next week.

As I was walking to the bus, I came across a cafe I’d just been reading about - Toast. It was mobbed, it being Saturday brunch time. But I got a seat, and noticed immediately the good sound system with laid back (ie non-screechy) jazz music! Good coffee and an excellent French toast with crispy bacon and maple syrup. And it's dog friendly!

Meanwhile, JR and Archie also visited a new (to us) neighbourhood dog friendly cafe, 27 Elliot's and reported that it was splendid. On the way home, Archie was delighted to find a sock, but thank goodness he didn’t bring it home!

So all in all, a very good day. Always like to find cool new cafes!
